Age of Belisarius expands the game Field of Glory II to the period from the fall of the Western Roman Empire in 476 to 600 AD, the period when the Eastern Roman (Byzantine) army turned from predominantly infantry to cavalry in response to the threats it faced. You will be able to participate in the flourishing of the new "barbarian" kingdoms that replaced the Roman Empire in the west, and the conflict between them. You can play an important role in the revival of the Eastern Roman (Byzantine) Empire and the conquest of the generals of Emperor Justinian I, especially Belisarius and then Narses, the Vandal Kingdom in Africa, the Ostrogothic Kingdom in Italy and part of the Visigothic Kingdom in Spain. You can take part in the almost continuous war between the Byzantines and the Sassanid Persians in the East, as well as in the showdowns of the Sassanids with their eastern neighbors, the Hephthalites and the Hekturks. You can lead the Avars to conquer a powerful empire north of the Danube and endanger the very existence of the Byzantine Empire - or defend yourself against them.
