KOTA - Round the World Tour of the Americas
The project to create the first autodrome in the United States, designed to serve all major racing series on the tracks, started back in 2010 in Austin (Texas). The track includes several very difficult sections, passable at very high average speeds. The 5.5km track is set in hilly terrain which creates some very impressive short braking zones interspersed with straights where it´s easy to pick up speed in an incredibly short amount of time. With all major events sold out, the circuit is close to the hearts of the locals, with a record 400,000 visitors in one race weekend.
Indianapolis Expressway
Have you ever seen a place where a race track is so important that a city is named after it? Well, Indianapolis is such a place because it´s located in a city called Speedway. The circuit is the second oldest racing circuit in all of mankind, built in 1909, just two years after Brookland (UK), the very first circuit in existence. That should tell you a lot about the huge motorsport culture that this place in Indiana (USA) has in its heritage. Everything around here is completely consumed by the passion for engines, speed, tires and everything related to a racing car. Indianapolis has long been known for its impressive oval section, which has extreme banking for high speed racing. As the capital of motorsport, the circuit has evolved to also feature FIA Class 1 markings, which is home to SRO´s 8 Hour Indianapolis Intercontinental GT Challenge and many other racing categories across all disciplines. Carl G. Fischer would be very proud of the legacy he created for the entire motorsport industry.
Watkins Glen International Airport
Watkins Glen, located near Seneca Lake in the state of New York (USA), was first opened in 1956 and was built to bring motor racing events previously held in the surrounding villages and on the roads to a proper track. Throughout its history, it has been home to major racing disciplines in which it has become very popular as the "Mecca" of North American motorsport. Initially, racing activity in the area was fueled by Cameron Argetsinger, whose family´s summer residence was located nearby. The family collaborated with local authorities and began organizing racing events, giving life to the future track, which also served as the venue for the United States Grand Prix for many years.
