1962 NASA is trying to land a man on the moon. Meanwhile, in a remote corner of Siberia, a Soviet cosmonaut rushes in a completely different direction. Ivan Ivanovich plunges into an extinct volcano in a research capsule in order to explore the center of the Earth. And disappears.
Three years later, he returns and claims that he managed to save the world. He also lost the nuclear bomb that powered Little Orpheus. He is sent to a top-secret bunker deep under the Ural Mountains to be interrogated by the stern General Yurkov, a man so formidable that even Stalin himself would have goosebumps.
