In the late 70s of the last century, the leadership of the German Bundeswehr decided to develop a new model of an armored personnel carrier. A new model of the conveyor was called “Fox” there. - Transportpanzer Fuchs). What was special about her?

We can say that the appearance of "Fox" has set a new format for reconnaissance armored vehicles. It differed from the main analogs in class with increased maneuverability and lighter weight - which gave a number of significant advantages during reconnaissance operations, which required secrecy. At the same time, the Fox had quite good armament, armor and a high-powered engine.
Inside, a detachment of ten fighters could freely accommodate, the exit was through a hatch at the back of the conveyor. Moreover, inside there were partitions, insulating compartments in case of fire. The engine had a power of 320 hp (in the newest versions they began to install more powerful engines), and all three pairs of wheels were leading, which gave Lys additional advantages when moving over rough terrain.
The model was so successful that a large number of modifications were subsequently developed on its base (headquarters vehicle, ambulance, communications vehicle, mobile radar, mine layer, anti-aircraft self-propelled installation, nuclear, radiation and chemical reconnaissance machine, etc.). The Fox was very well exported to other countries, in particular, such export models were created as a self-propelled mortar and tank destroyer (where the main asset of the Fox was maneuverability and speed).
