It is little known, but nevertheless, this is almost a reliable historical fact - one of the decisive factors that forced Japan to attack the United States in World War II was ... an ordinary plane. Although it is unlikely A6M "Zero" can be called "normal." This is what the story book will go about.

At the time of its appearance, the Zero fighter had characteristics that were far ahead of the performance of any other aircraft used by any army in the world. What was unusual about him? Speed, range, take-off angle, maneuverability, the ability to strike not only from ground airfields, but also from aircraft carriers - all of this merged together in a striking fighter, which had no equal in the world. The effectiveness of the weapons of this fighter could only be compared with the blow of a sharply honed samurai sword - it was almost impossible to resist. All this served as the last argument in favor of the start of an attack on the US armed forces in Pearl Harbor.
How was this unique aircraft created? In 1937, Japanese troops entered China, putting the United States in a state of preparation for war — America was not at all about to abandon the mineral-rich areas of Southeast Asia. The leadership of the imperial army appealed to the two most famous manufacturers of military equipment - the companies Nakaima and Mitsubishi with the request to create a fighter, which could become a masterpiece, the crown of technical thought. According to the military plan, this plane should have surpassed any American counterpart - and, by all indications!
