At the beginning of the game, young Lara, accompanied by her mentor, Professor Werner Von Croy, goes to Cambodia, where she hopes to find the mysterious artifact Iris. However, as a result of an accident, Lara loses her mentor, and in order to save her own life, she has to abandon further searches.
The next stage of the game takes the player 15 years forward to Egypt, where Lara Croft discovers an ancient tomb that once held the fearsome Egyptian god Seth. She inadvertently opens the tomb and releases the spirit of the deity, as a result of which she finds herself drawn into a deadly race against time, as it is she who must return Seth´s spirit back to the tomb before the Apocalypse comes to Earth.
In her search, Lara will have to visit various parts of Egypt and visit Pharos, the Temple of Isis, the Temple of Poseidon and the Palaces of Cleopatra.
