Mars 2170 - since the events of Red Faction: Guerrilla, the previous games in the series, was held for 50 years. Then the resistance forces and their allies managed to defend their freedom and establish a world of peace and tranquility. But they lasted long. As a result of man-made disaster to live on the surface of Mars it has become impossible, and the settlers had to move to the only safe place - underground caves.


The protagonist of the game - Darius Mason (Darius Mason), grandson of Alec Mason, the lead character´s Red Faction: Guerrilla. Darius makes a living dangerous trades - he was a miner, and scavenger, and a mercenary. By chance, he will awaken an ancient evil that can destroy the entire Red Planet. And that he, along with the legendary "Red Brigade» (Red Faction) will have to save the inhabitants of Mars - unless, of course, be able to survive in these inhuman conditions.
