STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl - STEAM KEY/GLOBAL

In 1986, the world´s worst nuclear disaster occurred at the Chernobyl power plant. The Soviet authorities created a 30-kilometer exclusion zone around this nuclear wasteland, but in 2006 a second explosion rocked the stricken reactor, wiping out all life and causing the exclusion zone´s boundaries to pulsate outwards. From this epicenter came waves of mutated creatures, deadly radiation and strange, anomalous energy. The area was cordoned off by the military, who shot into the sight of anyone foolish enough to cast aside the horrors within.

It is now 2012 - more and more people have penetrated into the heart of the Zone, caused by reports of strange "artifacts" imbued with anomalous energy. Mercenaries and bounty hunters compete to recover these artifacts that have commanded extortionate prices on the black market. Others seek to find the truth behind the Zone, while some simply enjoy the devastated lawlessness of this place. Whatever their motivation, over time, these people - scavengers, interlopers, adventurers, loners, assassins, explorers and highwaymen became known as STALKERS.

Awakening in the Zone, you are one such STALKER, fighting for survival in this artificial hell, trying to find out the truth about Chernobyl´s sinister past and sinister future.
